One of the most pressing questions of a modern person is "how to make more money?" Even if the income is good, and even if it is very high, a person wants more and more

It seems that everything is enough for a comfortable life - a car, an apartment, a summer house, gadgets, clothes, food, but no, you need more and more. People begin to chase that “pear” that “cannot be eaten”, they are doomed to an unsuccessful pursuit, disappointment with themselves and their lives is growing, there is no happiness and spiritual comfort. How to stop and finally start enjoying life?

1. The illusion of happiness

The material attributes of a happy life are constantly being imposed on us. Like, buy it and you will enjoy success with the opposite sex, or, for example, you will gain a high status. We know that social acceptance increases our chances of survival and procreation. It is important for us to be accepted in the group.

Watching the glossy life of famous people on social networks and the media (or rather, seeing staged footage of this life), we might think that these celebrities have no problems. The main attribute of such photographs is the demonstration of wealth. Observers get the impression that wealth is equal to success and happiness. The catch is that we cannot assess the degree of wealth of these people, and by acquiring the same or similar attributes of a "luxurious life", we expect to receive a high social status. If we fail to achieve what we want, we are disappointed.

It turns out the effect of a squirrel in a wheel - spinning, running, but we can't come running. We bought a new gadget, a week later we understand that we could not have bought it - the short-term euphoria passed, and we realized that everything remained as it was. The situation is aggravated by the desire to repeat the pleasant feeling after the purchase, we want to repeat it. The circle closes, but happiness does not come, social significance does not grow. Happiness, joy, life satisfaction depends on personal qualities, knowledge, perception of the world, and not on money. Money can only contribute to this psychological state, be a tool.

2. Motive

It is very important to understand why we want to make money, what we strive for. Remember your childhood joy when you were given money for ice cream? You got your pleasure from ice cream, not money. When did you get the ball and go to play football? Or a doll - and you started playing mother and daughter? Have a birthday party, go to the movies? We knew then that all this costs money, but we got joy from the activities that we were able to carry out thanks to certain things.

Over time, a psychological connection is developed: desire - money - thing - event - pleasure

In other words, there is a motive and there is a goal, upon reaching which the motive will be fulfilled and we will be happy. But in the process of growing up, the feeling of purchase pleasure dulls. What used to bring joy, such as ice cream, has now become something commonplace, it is not difficult to get it. And here is what is called the shift of motive to the goal. We do not know what we want, but we want something; we remember two material components in achieving a motive - money and a thing, since they are tangible in contrast to desire and activity.

The psyche begins to follow the path of least resistance, starting to replace concepts (remembering that pleasure was preceded by money), with the help of the mechanism for developing a conditioned reflex. Euphoria (the production of appropriate hormones) began to set in when there was money. We look forward to taking the next steps towards having fun, but since there is no real motive, there is no full satisfaction. There is no psychological completion, but pleasure is necessary, and it is better to get at least something than nothing at all.

So over time, money becomes a false motive, which gives a short-term effect, after which the negative state increases. To avoid it, you need a new portion of the short-term effect. The circle is closed, the condition worsens. In other words, you do not understand why you need money and how much it should be specifically, since you do not know exactly why you need it. Not materially (apartment, car, yacht), but psychologically (you don't know what occupation would bring you pleasure), why do you need things or money if you have nothing to buy.

3. Focus of attention

It happens that you know your favorite pastime, you know how much money is needed to satisfy your motives, but at the same time you cannot achieve the goals (money) that will allow you to realize these motives. You are confident, have tried a lot of things, but nothing comes of it. Most likely, your focus of attention is narrowed. It is necessary to try to look at the situation from other sides, to look for new solutions. As a rule, it is impossible to do this on your own. It's worth getting feedback from other people. Think about whose opinion you might value. You can also work with a psychologist: a specialist will help you find those facets that you have not paid attention to before, and reveal those aspects of you that will be effective for solving the tasks.

Money is a tool that can help you realize yourself. Money itself is paper; it does not give talent, respect, recognition, satisfaction, psychological comfort. But if you know how to use them, they can serve you well. Knowing how much and why you need money, it will work for you, contributing to your happiness.

In conclusion, we can quote Arthur Schopenhauer: “Money is human happiness only in theory. Anyone who is not capable of real happiness strives for money "- and Salvador Dali:" Most need to work to make money. And I need to earn money to work."
