But Alcatel engineers decided to go further and invent a device that would control alcohol addiction. Moreover, it was controlled from the outside.

The essence of the future novelty is that it controls the blood alcohol content. As soon as it exceeds the set rate, the device sends a warning, not to the wearer of this compact high-tech bracelet, but to his family and friends. Thus, the developers include not only physiological, but also social and psychological factors of influence in the fight against alcoholism.

“We wanted to create a convenient and discreet sensor so that people can easily take the first step in the fight against addiction,” says inventor Professor Shekhar Bansali of Alcatel Lucent. - But it's also a tool. Those who cannot live without alcohol know when alcohol is eliminated from the body and can easily take addiction tests, creating a socially acceptable image. And the real problem remains."
